The Creatives Cocoon

A eight week limited-space digital cocoon with Sierra & Emmie

Where structure meets softness, practicality meets daydreaming and pleasure, play, delusion and fun are just as important as getting shit done.

Starts February 13th.

In the creatives cocoon we approach the practical, day to day running and building of a business / creative practice / self employment from the perspective of both the dawn and the dusk. We place equal importance on what is hard and what is soft, and know this varies from person to person, and the current season you’re in.

Starting, growing & tending a gentle business takes discipline, structure and grit.

The reality is: we need a vessel to hold our precious flower stems. But not every vase is going to suit your home, or the flowers you love. In a world of fail-safe formulas and must-do’s the most important, and equally, the most challenging part of having and holding a business that is both practically and financially successful while allowing us the spaciousness and ease to live a life we adore is developing the courage to look within and get really clear about what it is you need.

The best part is — you don’t have to do this alone.

we’ve got you (we get it).

If you find yourself in one of these loops: we’ve got you:

  1. You’re a floaty dreamer who dances in circles of trying a new structure or routine, only to fall off the bandwagon a week or two in and berate yourself for how it’s all your fault & you’ll never be able to make it work.

  2. You’re a balls-out workhorse who constantly feels unsatisfied, dried out, exhausted, disconnected from your body, never quite keeping up, until you finally take some time off, only to feel as if you’re drowning in guilt for doing nothing at all

Your inconsistency is welcomed, celebrated and not shamed.

There is nothing wrong with inconsistency — unless it is standing in the way of actually getting your work, your voice, and your art out into the world.

Through a series of eight densely packed workshops, we explore how to make things actually work in your business or creative practice — from strategy, to branding to AI - without losing grip of who you truly are.

The Program.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

In the Creatives Cocoon, Emmie cradles the yin and Sierra encapsulates the yang. The creative act can not be birthed without one another. The two of us come together as facilitators to show you how artistry is rooted in dual intimacy. Our differences only bring us more congruence. This pairing is the cheese board; we offer a combination of flavours for every taste. You can sample the whole palette and then decide what you want to take home.

The deeper bit: at her core, Emmie is the workaholic who didn’t take a day off for years. Learning softness, rest and pleasure was what allowed her business (and life) to finally bloom, but the reality is, she cannot discount the fact that extreme discipline is beneath the surface of it all. Sierra’s story is that softness alone was depleting all of the resources she had as creative to move the needle. Getting serious about structure is what allowed her to honour her work so that she could continue to show up and make it real, even when she had no direction for what was next.

Long story short — many of us have different versions of this story, perhaps swinging from one extreme to the other. What we are offering here is finding a middle path, one that works for you, and knowing (without shame, guilt and fear) when you need to readjust, veer from those pointy, extreme tendencies and find a more supportive version of structure, romance, success and peace.

Emmie & Sierra

Like nettles and red raspberry leaf, some infusions are just better together.

Both of us agree what business success looks like: time to browse second hand bookshops and spending the afternoon reading our purchases drinking three different beverages at once in the sun. It looks having the money to learn and study more, to wear well made clothes that look incredibly cute and hop from coffee shop to coffee shop, because the conversation (or the Substack) needs to be finished in a difference aesthetic space. We are also both under no illusion of what it takes to get here.
